Prologue Players Presents: GODSPELL
 

Prologue Players is seeking actors for our upcoming production of Godspell.

A bold new concept: Godspell – The Algorithm of Truth

​

Godspell is being reimagined through the lens of today’s digital culture — a world of influencers, algorithms, curated identities, viral outrage, and constant noise.

​

Set in a social-media-driven landscape, each character begins as a recognizable online persona: a political commentator, wellness guru, celebrity gossip host, beauty influencer, gaming streamer, thirst trap creator, conspiracy theorist, tech bro, and true crime addict. As the story unfolds, these carefully crafted digital identities begin to crack, revealing the human need for truth, connection, compassion, and community beneath the performance.  Character Descriptions are here

This production will use satire and contemporary digital archetypes to explore themes of misinformation, performance, division, and the human longing for real connection.

 

The actors will be guided to create social media posts in character to be used Pre-Show and for promotion on Prologue Players social media platforms.

​

We are looking for performers who are bold, playful, emotionally available, and unafraid of satire, physical storytelling, ensemble collaboration, and contemporary character work. Strong comedic instincts, comfort with improvisation, and a willingness to build larger-than-life personas that evolve into something deeply authentic are highly encouraged.

We are especially seeking performers who can:

• Create bold, recognizable contemporary character types
   

• Balance satire and comedy with emotional honesty
   

• Work collaboratively in a highly ensemble-driven process
   

• Be comfortable with improvisation and physical storytelling
   

• Embrace a production that is stylized, current, and socially resonant
   

If you love fearless storytelling, ensemble-driven work, and creating characters that are both larger-than-life and deeply human, we want to see you at auditions.

Prologue Players is a pre-professional musical theater company that brings together performers ages 19-26 from throughout the region to produce a high-quality show in just one month. Performers receive a $300 stipend for their participation.

 

AUDITIONS

Your audition should include:

• A 60-second comedic monologue

• A 60-second musical theatre song cutting - preferably upbeat 

• Ensure your videos are accessible by either a youtube link or a shared google file link

 

CALLBACKS

• In-person on Saturday, May 9, at 10:00 AM at Eastview High School

• An on-line option will be available.

• Callbacks will be by invitation only—notifications will be sent via email with sides included.

 

REHEARSALS

• May 11 - May 22 - During this time frame we will schedule a read through, and an individual 30 minute session with the director to discuss your Online Persona.

• May 26 – June 18, weekday evenings (6:30–9:30 PM) at Eastview High School.

• Sunday, May 31 rehearsal (6:30–9:30 PM).

• Saturday, June 14 & Sunday, June 15 (1:00–6:00 PM).

• June 1 – Musical Monday Performance at 7:00 PM.
