THE CHOIRS...

BEL CANTO

Bel Canto is a treble choir comprised of singers in grades 6-8.  Rehearsals
emphasize the healthy development of a free and natural vocal production, while
honing each singer's musicianship, expressivity and ear training abilities.  Basic
music theory and sight-reading development is part of Bel Canto's curriculum.  
The 2011-2012 season begins Sept. 15 for Bel Canto East and Sept. 19 for Bel
Canto South.  The choirs performs at both the December and May concerts.  In
the fall of 2008, Bel Canto performed the world premiere of
Ah, Nagasaki with
the Minnesota Chorale.  Bel Canto has been invited to perform in a festival at the
national conference of Chorus America in June 2012.

There are two Bel Canto choirs:  One rehearses on Monday evenings at St. John's
Lutheran Church in Lakeville from 6:30-8:00pm, the other on Thursday evenings
at Rosemount United Methodist Church from 6:30-8:00pm.  To set-up an audition

PRIMA VOCE

Prima Voce is the intermediate level Academy choir.  Comprised of students in
grades 4-6, Prima Voce strives to inspire children to build upon their musical
interests and skills.  Basic training and musicianship is combined with a positive
and creative environment.  Prima Voce's 2011-2012 season begins the week of
Sept. 12 for Prima Voces East and West and on Sept. 19 for Prima Voce South.  
Prima Voce performs at both the December and May concerts.  

Students in Prima Voce may choose to attend one of two sites: Monday evenings
at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lakeville or Thursday evenings at Rosemount
United Methodist Church.  All Prima Voce choirs meets from 6:30-7:45pm.  Prima
Voce is non-auditioned.  Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served
basis until each choir is full.

VIVACE

This non-auditioned choir class is a positive, fun and structured environment
where young performers can explore their voice, develop their ear, build music
literacy and prepare themselves for the rigors of successful choral membership.  
Vivace is structured using the principles of Orff-Kodaly music education.  Open to
students in grades 2-3, this class participates in both the December and May
concerts. Students in Vivace may attend one of tw
o Vivace sections:  Tuesdays at
190 South River Ridge Circle in Burnsville, or Thursdays at Rosemount United
Methodist Church.  All Vivace sections meet from 6:30-7:20pm.  Registrations are
accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until each section is full.
Allegro Choral Academy is a community-based organization that accepts members of all races, religions, ethnic or economic backgrounds.
